Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does the semen get to me?
Upon submitting an order, our shipping facility will prepare your order and ship directly to you in a vapor shipper tank. Typical lead time is 1-2 business days for packing the tank and 2-3 business days for delivery. Once the straws have been transferred to your tank, the shipping company will return to pick up the tank, return it to our facility. We prioritize hassle-free shipping so that you can focus on getting cows pregnant with the highest value calf!
  • How are you able to offer the semen at such a low price point?
Our direct-to-customer distribution model cuts out costly middlemen to ensure you get the highest quality semen at the best possible price.
  • What quality standards are used in making the straws?
All units are Certified Semen Services (CSS)-qualified and produced by USDA-inspected, professional custom collection facilities. We use a best-in-industry standard of at least 35 million cells per dose-meaning the product is not only likely to be cheaper per unit, but also likely to be the cheapest per sperm cell, by far. Pay less and get more- that’s a winning combination! Figure 1 – Sperm cell concentration comparison of BeefXDairy semen straws from major US Semen Providers, performed by UC Davis laboratory
  • What size are the straws?
We currently only offer ¼ cc straws- if you’d prefer ½ cc, please shoot us a message and let us know so that we can potentially offer that in the future!
  • Is there a difference in Blended Units vs. Individual Sires?
Research has been inconclusive in determining whether there is a conception rate benefit to using blended sire packs. The theory behind employing blended units is diversifying your sperm population. Figure 2 below showcases the timing and viability of a single sire unit compared to the viability of an egg: The objective with AI breeding of any type is to maximize the amount of time where both sperm and egg are viable, in order to result in the highest possible conception rate. Figure 3 below showcases the theory behind utilizing blended sire packs, starting at A.I. Breeding: By stacking a high number of cells of multiple sires into one unit, we get exposure to different ranges of sperm viability – as each individual sire and individual collection can have different capacitation speed, sperm velocity, and length of viability in the reproductive tract. By increasing the overall length of time where sperm cells are viable, we can theoretically better match the viability profile of the egg, and result in potential higher and/or more consistent conception rates.
